The proprietor and Managing Director of the social enterprise started appreciating challenges local farmers face when he engaged the horticulture farmers at Lusangazi in his capacity as a leader of an organization known as Revolution Human Aid and Transparency Initiative (REHAAT-INITIATIVE). The organization initiated a project which aimed at linking local farmers to local and structured markets. it was in that processing of identifying the markets and linking the Lusangazi farmers to markets when main challenges facing farmers surfaced. It was discovered that farmers produce low quality produce, farmers fail to produce in large quantities and local farmers are unable to sustain production and supply according to demand on the market.
These challenges necessitated the establishment of Destiny Produce which supports the farmers in both production and marketing by identifying and linking farmers to have access to formal, structural and sustainable markets for their farm produce.
